The kit takes around 45 minutes to set up and up to 7 days for the crystals to grow. The crystals are white and resemble Quartz crystals. It comes with a display case which is relatively thin and flexible plastic. Adult supervision is required when boiling the water, and the product is toxic if ingested, although basic care and attention can avoid any issues. Reviews of the product have been mixed, with some saying it is a waste of money as the crystals did not grow or grew too small, and others saying that it was a fun craft to do with their kids and the crystals grew great. One reviewer had trouble with the crystals crystallizing around the cup and out onto their counter, with another saying it was a mess. However, another reviewer said they grew the crystals over Christmas break and they still look great after being rinsed and placed in the display case.
